Boosting rules

The Boosting rules section in Visidea allows you to influence the ranking of search results by defining custom rules. These rules can boost (increase the relevance of) certain products when specific conditions are met, helping you promote particular items or categories in search results.

Main Features

  • Search Bar: Quickly find existing boosting rules by searching for rule names.
  • Rule List: View all current boosting rules in a table. Each rule can be edited or deleted using the actions menu.
  • Add Rule: Click the ADD RULE button to create a new boosting rule.

Creating a Boosting Rule

When adding a new rule, you can configure:

  • Name: The name of the rule (for your reference).
  • Boost: The boost value (e.g., 2) to apply to matching products. Higher values increase the product's ranking in search results.
  • Conditions: Define one or more conditions that products must meet to receive the boost. For each condition, you can set:
    • Field: Choose a product field (e.g., price, brand, category, code, discount, gender, stock, tags, etc.).
    • Condition: Select a comparison such as =, !=, >, <, >=, <=, is in, or is not in.
    • Value: Enter the value(s) to match (e.g., "man" for gender, a price value, etc.).
  • Selector: Choose whether products must match All or Any of the conditions.

Click SAVE to create the rule. The rule will be applied to future searches, boosting the ranking of products that match the specified conditions.

Example Workflow

  1. Click ADD RULE to start a new boosting rule.
  2. Enter a name and boost value.
  3. Add one or more conditions (e.g., boost products where gender is man and price > 20).
  4. Choose whether all or any conditions must be met.
  5. Click SAVE to activate the rule.

Tips

  • Use boosting rules to promote seasonal products, high-margin items, or specific brands.
  • Combine multiple conditions for more targeted boosting.
  • Regularly review and update your rules to keep search results relevant.

The Boosting rules section gives you fine-grained control over which products appear at the top of search results, helping you align search with your business goals.
